Break the barrier of Lack of Australian experience, get out of your comfort Zone
I often hear Indian newcomers to Australia looking for Job suggesting ‘Lack of local experience’ the biggest barrier in getting them a Job in Australia.Although I agree with the statement and it holds truth to a certain extent, but this definitely isn’t a show stopper.
Breaking the barriers in a new country isn’t easy but sitting on these barriers forever and not doing anything is even worse.Tackle it by applying different strategies and soon you will overcome it.Have you tackled all of them as yet?
Imagine barrier no 1. Language barrier Australia employers appear worried of your communication skill. How do you think you might be able to break it?
Off course by getting an opportunity to talk to them. The only way you would get that opportunity is to talk,is either by making sure your resume is well written and presented. Don’t send poorly present resume to prospective employers or consultant which may just reinforce their doubts of your communication skills.
Imagine barrier no 2.Your oversees experience & qualification,Surprised
Making it easy for employers and consultant to access your oversees experience and details, make it short and to the point. Its always recommended to ask for Job description of the Job you are applying and doing the initial skill matching due diligence yourself. It about how you will make sure you will present that you are a Great fit for a Australian job irrespective of your good qualification and experience.Think and prove ‘How you are a Good fit for Australian work culture’
Imagine barrier no 3.From a mental perspective make Australia your home country
Understand the Australian culture because sometimes differences in culture can cause confusion. Not having appropriate level of eye contact with interviewer might be perceived as lack of confidence rather than a symbol out of respect in Australia culture.
Indian connection has complied a list of recruitment agents suppliers who you should register with and let them know what you are interested in working for. It’s worth noting that mostly all positions in Australia need you to hold valid Australian work rights and may be subject to a background check.
